| Hey folks!
What's up? Life has been crazy on my side of the world. Especially since I'm in the Miss ETBU pagent...yeah, that's right, me, I'm in the pagent....surprise! But, yeah, that's keeping me busy. If you're an ETBU student go vote! http://www2.etbu.edu/missetbu/ And while I would love for you to vote for me, I'm not going to tell you to, reason for that is because this pagent is to find the best representative for ETBU. If you think I'm the best for that, then please vote for me. If you think that someone else would be better, then please vote for them. The pagent is interesting because we have to have talent and interview and evening gown. Well, for the interview we have to write an essay for SGA to ask us about. I've kinda been struggling with what to write (suggestions welcomed) but I think I might have figured it out. I'm thinking, writing on the fact that I was raised with the concept of making a difference and leaving a place better then when you found it. This has subconciously been an underlying "motto" for me. I always want to make a difference and especially here, at etbu. I don't want to be another student that came through, went to class and graduated. I want to leave an impression, a legacy.
...although unfotunately it seems that I am making an impression, and it's the wrong one. The past week I've been hearing that I'm a snob, a suck up and I'm arrogant. ...I was really thinking that I had solved this last semester, but apparently, I didn't. I really don't know what I'm doing that is giving off that impression. I'm simply being me and that's keeping me busy. It's easier and a whole lot less time and energy consuming to talk to someone rather then avoid them. /em shrug I dunno, sometimes I just feel like a complete failure. Yet, that's when I realize, I don't want people to see me, I want people to see Christ when they look at me. and it breaks my heart that they look at me and see arrogance, because that is the opposite of what I want them to see.

| So, I guess I need to explain that last post. Since the beginning of last semester I have been experiencing random pains shooting through my ribs, along with pressure underneath the ribs making it hard to breath. A couple weeks ago my temp shot up to 101 within an hour, and without any warning, I assumed it was a cold and I'm still getting over it. A week and a half ago I was singing in choir and I started feeling pressure on my lungs making it hard for me to breathe, this continued for the next week.
On top of all that, last semester I found out the my grandmother has Sjogren's Syndrome(http://www.sjogrens.org/), currently it's making her life hell...well, it's hereditary, my mother is showing symptoms of it, and my great-grandmother had signs of it...so since the chances are 1/4 kids will have it when the parent has it and 9 out of 10 victims are women...it's more then likely that I have it. There's no cure and while the main symptoms aren't horrible, I'm seeing my grandmother's life torn apart and I don't want it to happen to me.
Well, Friday I went to the doctor and I was going to have him run some tests and find out if I had Sjogens...I've read reports saying that it can show up as early as 17, but normally doesn't show up until 40. Well, I went to the doctor and told him about the family history and said that I probably had it but nothing could be done. I also got him to check up on everything else going on and he said that apparently my ribs are pushing up into my breastbone which is causing my ribs to become inflamed, which is why my sternum is popping and hurts, and why the shooting pain (muscle spasms) are happening. ...and I'm sitting here thinking what about everything else? No answer. I left the office wondering if it was wrong to wish he had actually found something, rather then telling me to take advil and it would go away.
Perspective is an interesting thing. One minute I'm upset because the doctor told me I was ok, and then I remember that one of my friends just had surgery to get rid of cancer. I guess I'm just being a brat and complaining about something, just to complain. I don't want to do that, so I'm going to try to stop. But I guess that ultimately I'm just wishing that I understood what was going on.
Right now, I want to go dance, but I have greek homework. I want to sing, but my roommates are in the room. Too many buts and not enough time.
